The Cervical Spine (Neck)
The cervical spine (neck) is prone to injury right from the birth when doctors frequently use excessive pressure and even instruments like suction and forceps to pry the baby from the birth canal. Multiple minor (and not so minor) injuries from falls, amusement park rides, sports injuries and car accidents find the neck to be a very vulnerable part of the body. Whiplash can occur in as little as a 5mph rear impact.

Subluxations in the cervical spine can place pressure on the small blood vessels and nerves going to and from the head. This can lead to migraines, vision and hearing troubles, earaches, dizziness and vertigo and a myriad of other vascular and neurological symptoms. Of course, there are many causes for each of these conditions and these should be ruled out as much as possible prior to concluding that the problem is purely chiropractic.

Chiropractic Adjustment
This neck is a very sensitive and delicate area. Dr. Greenwood's skill, sensitivity and experience make his adjustments very comfortable. Cervical adjusting can be done either seated or laying down. Some people prefer one over the other. In either case, we are very specific and precise in making our correction. It is simply poor and dangerous technique to twist the head or torque the neck while making these adjustments. We do not do this.

Nutritional Therapy
For whiplash injuries we often use
Ligaplex I (for acute injuries) or Ligaplex II (for chronic conditions) to support good healing and other Standard Process™ whole food supplements. For head injuries and concussions we often recommend Cruciferous Complete, our strongest whole food anti-oxidant, for its powerful anti-oxidant properties which have been shown to decrease the subsequent brain injury.

Emotional
The neck is a naturally vulnerable area of the body and is very sensitive to fear responses. People often carry tension in their neck and shoulders when they are "stressed out." The C5 area in the lower neck is commonly related to feelings related to anger.
